The summer season is set to come alive across Ashfield as the Summer of Creativity kicks off with immersive art, aerial theatre and community events running from July through to September.

From large-scale immersive installations to playful outdoor performance and grassroots community activity, the programme promises a summer shaped by participation, imagination and shared cultural experiences across the district.

A spectacular opening: Daedalite by Architects of Air

Kicking off the season is Daedalite, a monumental Luminarium experience by Architects of Air, taking place from Friday 17th – Sunday 19th July at Titchfield Park.

Designed by founder Alan Parkinson, Daedalite is a striking inflatable sculpture that visitors can walk through and explore. Inside, winding pathways lead into soaring domes filled with shifting light and colour, creating an environment that feels both otherworldly and deeply calming.

Demand has been exceptionally strong, with more than 600 tickets sold during the first weekend of sales—already accounting for over half of the event’s total capacity. Saturday daytime sessions have now sold out, with a waiting list in place should additional tickets become available.

Part of the internationally acclaimed Luminarium series, Daedalite has captivated millions of visitors around the world. Designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities, including those with physical disabilities and mobility needs, it promises to be one of the highlights of Ashfield’s summer programme.

The Beach comes to Hucknall

Another sure-fire crowd pleaser will be Everywhere’s a Beach by aerial circus company Hikapee. This charmingly ridiculous performance takes place on a giant revolving beach parasol with eccentric characters, chaotic situations, and all those things we love about the beach!  The performance will also take place at Titchfield Park as part of the wider Hucknall Festival, adding another highlight to the town’s summer celebrations. This is a free performance on Saturday 4th July.

A summer of creativity across Ashfield

Beyond these headline events, the Summer of Creativity will roll out a diverse programme of activities across Ashfield’s communities. From participatory workshops to cultural pop-ups and creative experiences, the season is designed to bring people together and encourage creativity in everyday spaces.

The programme reflects a commitment to accessibility, inclusion and community engagement—ensuring residents of all ages can take part in high-quality cultural experiences close to home.

Edward Boott, Artistic Director of Nonsuch Studios, who are leading the Ashfield Creates project says:

“We are so excited to be kicking off our first full summer of Ashfield Creates with the incredible Luminarium.
We know audiences and communities from Hucknall and across Ashfield will love exploring and experiencing this incredible space. What’s more, this is just the tip of the iceberg as we get set for a Summer filled with loads of creative events, activities and experiences across Ashfield that inspire play, colour and creativity.”

Keep an eye out

With major installations already drawing strong demand and more events still to be announced, the Summer of Creativity is shaping up to be one of Ashfield’s most vibrant cultural seasons yet.
