Introducing the Artist Roadshow

Ashfield Creates is bringing Creativity to Every Corner of Ashfield

This May, Ashfield Creates is launching the Artist Roadshow; an exciting new initiative designed to support local and early career artists to connect with Ashfield residents, while bringing unique, accessible creative activity to venues across the district.

Every other month, we’ll collaborate with a different artist, taking them on a journey to five venues across Ashfield. At each stop, they’ll deliver workshops that introduce their practice and give people the chance to have a go at making something of their own.

Four of these sessions will be free, drop-in workshops hosted in community spaces, perfect for anyone curious to try something new! You’ll have the chance to come along to all the workshops, or as many as you’d like and the  fifth session will take place in a dedicated workshop setting, offering a more in-depth experience for those who want to explore the artform further.

At its heart, the Artist Roadshow is about breaking down barriers to creativity. By bringing artists directly into community spaces, we hope to reach people who might not usually engage with the arts, making creativity feel more accessible, local, and welcoming.

It’s also about celebrating and supporting local artists, shining a light on the incredible talent within our district, and encouraging more people to try something new in a relaxed, informal environment.

Meet our Artists: May & July

Bailey Revill

We’re kicking things off with artist Bailey Revill, who will be leading a series of workshops exploring lino printing and lino cutting. Workshops will be taking place from 2nd – 30th May.

At each drop-in session, you’ll have the chance to experiment with pre-cut lino blocks, creating your own prints and getting a feel for the process. It’s a simple, hands-on way to try something new and see what lino printing is all about.

If you find yourself wanting to take it further, you can sign up for the final session, where Bailey will guide you through the full process, from carving your own design to printing it from start to finish.

Lucy Bronwen

In July, we will be taking Lucy Bronwen on the road to various Ashfield locations!

Lucy Bronwen Davies is an ecological artist and creative facilitator. Her practice investigates natural materials foraged from local and significant rural environments. She’s fascinated in manipulating the natural form to break down at a macro or molecular level to regenerate into new possibilities. Lucy’s work aims to remind her audience of the personal and environmental benefits of reconnecting to the natural world using local and Celtic folklore and their forgotten narratives, inviting her audience to confront their own sense of belonging.

The Artist Roadshow begins this May, and everyone is welcome to come along and have a go!

Keep an eye out for upcoming dates and locations, drop in to a session near you, or book onto the full workshop to explore the art form in more depth.
