Additional Information

Katie Rayson is from the Forest of Bowland and is currently based in Nottingham, where she completed her Fine Art BA (Hons) degree. The key motifs for her greenware slab sculptures are natural recurring patterns, such as waves, explosions, and branching. Her current project is about circular walks in local parks in Nottingham, for example Victoria Park, and the Arboretum. Inspired by theories of psychogeography, “the effect of a geographical location on the emotions and behaviour of individuals.” (Tate Terms, 2023.), she encourages the exploration of natural spaces that combat the climate crisis (e.g., peatland) and improve mental health.  Her recent exhibitions include ‘Fruit Baskets’ at Fishergate Point (Nottingham, October and November 2023) and ‘The Break’ at Twitchel Gallery (Nottingham Trent University, March 2023).
