About this Event

Join curator and educator Sean Colgrave for an alternative art experience exploring the history and creativity behind tattoo styles. The sessions run on Tuesdays starting from the 5th of May to the 19th of May, at 5pm, during school term-time only, due to venue capacity.

This includes: 5th of May, 12th of May, 19th of May

You’ll dive into the origins and evolution of tattoo art, creating designs made up of 3 – 4 elements that you’ll then combine into one larger piece. Bring your work to life using spitshading (a tattoo-inspired watercolour technique) and a tattoo machine adapted for drawing. You’ll create a full-colour piece and a smaller shaded design to take home.

After the session, stay and chat with Sean about what it’s really like to break into the tattoo industry.

This session is run in collaboration with Base-16, who have a thriving community of young people in Selston. The Alternative Art Class is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and explore a new hang-out spot, we’re expecting the workshop to fill up fast!
